DESIGN PROCESS

PROCESS

  • It’s on the house!

This 30-min phone call is our speed dating session to get to know each other. You’ll get to share some background information, desired scope and budget for your dream project and learn more about the Jayme Ritchie Interiors process. If the stars align and we’re a great fit for each other, we’ll schedule a time for a more in-depth consultation in your home as the first step in the design process.

  • 1 hr - $250 fee

In this working meeting in your home, we’ll get to see your project in person and start to gather initial ideation. We’ll take some rough measurements and review some inspirational images that you’ve provided to be able to provide you with an anticipated budget based on your dreams and preferences.

Deliverable: Proposed Budget and Design Agreement/Contract for signature and deposit

After the consultation, you’ll receive a proposed budget inclusive of the design fee and material/merchandise selections. Based on how this proposal aligns with your goals, we’ll either continue to refine the scope of work or will move forward into the Design Agreement/Contract and obtain a deposit on the design fee. A design questionnaire will be sent to you to help make the most of our next meeting.

  • This is when we dive deep into your dreams, goals, and lifestyle in order to create magic. We’ll block out a 2+ hour time to sit down with you. We’ll comb through inspirational images, review the design questionnaire, discuss your aesthetic preferences and your over-my-dead-body paints/fabrics, and really get personal about how you live. We’ll also take detailed measurements of all spaces within the scope of work.

Following the meeting, we’ll get to work on the conceptual design and reach out within the established timeline to schedule the conceptual design meeting. Expect a minimum of 4-6 weeks between these meetings.

  • Description text goes hereThis is your first view of your design! Bespoke to every project, this meeting can vary from sketches of a kitchen layout paired with mood boards to fully realized designs for smaller spaces including furnishing selections. You’ll receive more information on what to expect at this meeting after the Programming Meeting. This typically serves as a temperature check to make sure we’re on the right track before we dedicate the hours to refining a design.

  • Based on the results of our Conceptual Design Meeting, we’ll revise and refine the final design. It’s common for this stage to include visits to stone yards and some informal digital discussion to narrow down selections.

Once the design is finalized, we’ll schedule one more design meeting to review detailed plans, as many finish + materials samples as possible, and review each piece of the design. You will receive a final set of plans that will be yours to share with contractors and tradespeople for estimates.

Revisions that occur past this stage in the design process, though uncommon, incur additional design fees based on scope revised.

  • Jayme Ritchie Interiors does not serve as your general contractor and we are unable to receive estimates for you, but we are happy to continue to serve as your partner through this process. We can be on site for walk-thrus or be available by phone for questions.

  • You’ll receive the final material + merchandise proposals for payment and we’ll get to work ordering your goodies. All items will be shipped to our office or receiving warehouse and delivered on Installation Day (or prior to construction in the case of finish materials.)

As a full-service firm, we do not offer shopping lists for our clients to purchase merchandise directly, with the exception of certain Distance Design projects in which it is not feasible for our team to deliver your goodies.

  • Depending on the scope of work and general contractor you’ve selected, we are available for Construction Administration services. While we cannot provide oversight to tradespeople or contractors, it is our goal to work hand in hand with them to ensure that your design is executed as envisioned. We love to collaborate with your construction partner as much as possible.

Once construction is completed and the space is safe for delivery, we’ll schedule Installation Day. During the day (or multi-day period), we’ll schedule all furniture deliveries for a final reveal of your gorgeous new spaces.

"During the design and construction phases she was always very responsive to any questions, concerns or modifications we had. She worked with us to understand our needs and how we best wanted to utilize the space. She worked closely with our contractor and the cabinet maker to ensure that all details were correct. When one of the cabinets was not to the specifications and did not meet our needs she reworked the design and collaborated with the cabinet maker for the changes. Jayme conducted a final inspection of the installation and overall project before providing her final sign-off. It was a pleasure to work with Jayme and I would recommend her at the highest level.”

  • We use a proprietary process that combines your unique scope of work and vision for your space with our time and expertise. The inclusions and deliverables covered in this flat fee will be explained in detail via your proposal.

  • This depends on the scope of work! Typically, the first design presentation is scheduled between 6-8 weeks from our kick off meeting. From there, timing depends on factors such as the amount of revisions requested, availability of your contractor, and lead times for merchandise.

  • Of course! It’s important to know that the contractor selected is up to the task and the right fit for your project, however. We believe in setting everyone up for success and matching expectation to skill level.

We’re happy to collaborate with your contractor before you sign their contract to ensure they’re familiar with the requirements for your project.

We do not provide general contracting services, but are committed to continuing to partner with your GC through the completion of your project.

  • Yes, please! Tell us all about your beloved treasures and we’ll evaluate whether there’s a good fit for this space. This is your home and we can’t wait to hear your stories.

  • We specialize in full service design, which always includes sourcing and purchasing your furnishings and merchandise. The exception to this is if you utilize our Distance Design service.

  • Most people don’t! You’re in great company.

We’ll review many inspiration photos together and start to establish what feels good to you. People rarely fit neatly into design styles. It’s our job to help you find a style that’s true to you!
