Small, but heavily used, this under 200 sq. ft. kitchen is truly the heart of this family’s home. Lacking storage and usable counter space, increased functionality was key, without the investment of major structural work.

Previously in the way, the refrigerator was moved to the opposite side of the room to allow the range to be properly centered. The central vacuum system (located within an existing coat closet) is now hidden behind a narrow access door, allowing a wall of shallow tall pantries to be added. 

To honor details throughout the home, plaster was removed from the existing chimney to expose the original brick and paneling added to the adjoining wall. Vintage-style pendants were added over the kitchen table. The table, a handmade family heirloom piece, was refinished to match the walnut-stain custom cabinets. Amish- and locally-made black windsor dining chairs, along with two auxiliary stools for extra seating, honor their Pennsylvania heritage. Durable surfaces including slate-look vinyl tiles and soapstone-look quartz suit the family’s high traffic requirements.

Jayme is an amazing and talented designer. Her attention to the smallest detail and ability to work to resolve challenges makes her kitchen designs functional and attractive. We are absolutely in love with our kitchen that she designed for us. We receive so many compliments on how beautiful and functional it is.
